Building sustainable value for impact
The Sustainable Finance and Wealth Management series is a joint effort between Greenleaf Advisors, DePaul University, and the Global Finance Journal focused on building sustainable value for impact and building portfolio values through investments that address environmental issues. The series began in 2012 and brings together business, finance, science, and policy experts. It is hosted in conjunction with the annual Conference on CSR, the Economy and Financial Markets sponsored by Global Finance Journal that rotates its meeting among Chicago, Tokyo, and Düsseldorf.
Past events brought topical discussions on investment considerations amidst the transition towards resilience, adaptation, and mitigation of climate change.
- Hosted at Cardiff University in 2024, “Sustainability for Future Generations” convened on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and impact investing. Ali Fatemi (Greenleaf Board Member), Tom Hill (Savills), Calvin Jones (Cardiff University), and Marylis Ramos (Savills) discussed social and economic frameworks and climate solutions in finance. “Pricing carbon is our best solution” and “Incrementalism is not enough!” were statements made by the finance experts.
- The 2022 event, “Transitions” at Northern Trust focused on investment considerations amidst the transition towards resilience, adaptation, and mitigation of climate change with a keynote by Dr. Bob Litterman, Chairman of the Risk Committee and founding partner at Kepos Capital, Chair of the CFTC climate-related Market Risk Subcommittee.
- Dr. Jon Foley of Project Drawdown provided the keynote at “Building Sustainable Value for Impact” along with presentations by Exelon, Ariel Investments, Graystone Consulting/Morgan Stanley, Aperio Group, S2G Ventures, Impact Engine, and Clean Energy Trust.
- The Future Value Symposium in 2018 focused on building portfolio values through investments that address environmental issues featuring Caprock Group, Bloomberg, Tortoise, and Essex Investment Management.
