Greenleaf welcomes Bobby Howard to the team!

Bobby Howard joins Greenleaf Advisors to advance innovative and sustainable solutions for its clients, drawing upon his strong background at Invenergy, North America’s largest independent provider of renewable electricity, where he led the development of solar, wind, natural gas, and storage projects across the Midwest. Prior to Invenergy, Bobby worked in M&A and new business development for an early-stage clean tech company as well as consulting with KPMG.

Most recently, Bobby served as a project developer at Invenergy, North America’s largest independent provider of renewable electricity, where he worked on utility-scale solar, wind, natural gas, and storage projects. Projects of note that he was involved with include Badger Hollow Solar Farm, a 300MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project currently under construction in Iowa County, WI, and Lackawanna Energy Center, a 1,480MW state-of-the-art gas-fired generator in Jessup, PA. His responsibilities at Invenergy usually began at a project’s conception and transitioned at start of construction. Land acquisition, permitting, conceptual design, and financial modeling were big parts of the role.

Prior to Invenergy, Bobby worked in corporate development / M&A for an energy infrastructure company (InterGen), as part of a small team acquiring and developing international power and gas assets, including the first Mexico-to-US cross-border wind project Energia Sierra Juarez (co-owned with Sempra). Originally a joint venture between a global engineering firm (Bechtel) and an oil/gas supermajor (Shell), InterGen had a large global footprint, allowing him to obtain deal experience in several technologies across multiple markets in LatAm, Europe and Asia.

He joined InterGen from a venture-capital funded energy storage startup, General Compression, where he worked as an analyst for the Chief Commercial Officer. GC attempted to commercialize a solution to the intermittency problem of renewables, i.e. the “holy grail” of long-duration energy storage.

After graduating with an undergraduate business degree from the University of Illinois, Bobby started his career in management consulting at KPMG, working on operations and sustainability projects for regulated utilities, oil/gas, and consumer products firms.
